Major Thomas L. Broun
Major Broun was the first Major assigned to the 60th Virginia and sold the horse, “Traveller” to General Robert E. Lee. He was reassigned in late 1862 but rejoined the regiment at the Battle of Cloyd’s Mountain (1864), where he was severely wounded.
Colonel Starke was assigned to the 60th Virginia in late 1861 and led the regiment through the early days of the war and their first major engagements "to see the elephant."
The Flag has completed conservation efforts and was returned to the Civil War Museum in December, 2019.
